Popular Nigerian singer and music executive, D’Banj and Seyitan have privately settled as she finally “pleads and withdraws” rape case against him.

If you could remember vividly in the last few weeks, D’Banj was all over the news after a young Nigerian lady, Seyitan accused him of raping her so many years ago at Glee Hotel.

In the words of investigative journalist Kemi Olunloyo who has been insisting Seyitan’s allegations against D’Banj are false, the singer has been cleared after Seyitan “pleaded and withdrew her petition citing personal reasons”.

Kemi Olunloyo wrote ;

“I was RIGHT all along. It cost me a lot of time, money, my health and sometimes integrity but I ONLY investigate the truth.
#defendmediafreedom

Dbanj has been vindicated by @policeng of RAPING Seyitan. I will now detail findings of their investigation.

@PoliceNG cleared @iamdbanj 100% after fully carrying out an investigation and in parallel Ms Seyitan who pleaded and WITHDREW her petition. It is important to pay close attention to real rape accusations vs fake accusations so as to protect the innocent rape victims #kemitalks

Here are legal documents I obtained in the case and the recommendation of @policeng

I implore the Nigerian mainstream media to get more involved in investigative journalism especially RAPES. It is important to protect the innocently accused. #kemitalks”

#JusticeForIzu: A young Nigerian man identified as Izu has allegedly committed suicide after he was falsely accused of rape by a lady on Twitter.

The hashtag #JusticeForIzu is currently trending on the social media platform after the man with the moniker, Legend Izu Madubueze took his life after he was being accused by Nanichi Anese of non-physical rape.

The lady claimed Izu sexually assaulted another lady she refused to reveal her identity. She however admitted the rape did not happen physically as it allegedly occurred over the phone.

Nigerians have however taken to the platform to call for the arrest of Nani, as she is populary called and they are also calling on the authorities to put an end to false rape accusation by making the accusers face the wrath of the law.

A Nigerian man has had his penis broken during a rough bed action with an unidentified lady in a hotel, according to a social media report by a medical doctor.

Medical personnel, @OlumideAdeuyi, who shared graphic photos of the fractured penis online, said the man was ”pounding vigorously” when he hit the ”Mons Pubis”, a part of the female vaginal anatomy, resulting in his penis fracturing.

He wrote:

“It happened around 5am sunday AM in a nearby hotel. D guy ws pounding away vigorously. In a bid 2 give d hardest and strongest thrust from a little distance outside the box, he crashed his penis on the mons pubis. The next thing he heard was a sound kam , the penis was bent”

Reacting to the report, popular Nigerian medical doctor and social media influencer, @DrOlufunmilayo took time to explain how penile fracture can happen to a man and the aftereffect of such an accident.

A young man just had penis fracture. It is rare but it can happen. Penis contains no bones but when fully erect it can break suddenly. Rough sex and aggressive riding can cause it. “Harder harder” “Let me write coconut with my hips” Solape the stallion, please come down o.

While we are all laughing, This is really a serious emergency. The guy will actually hear kpauuuu like fanbelt cuts suddenly. And what happens is similar. The expanded tissues under the erect penis skin suddenly tears due to the rough sex. Very painful. Like breaking a bone.

And as I said it is an emergency Surgery has to be done immediately. If nothing is done: That penis can be permanently deformed, the man may never get an erection again or struggle to get it, he may never be able to have sex and to urinate can become a problem.

And in case you have never seen what it looks like before, here are some images: (The broken penis becomes bent, deformed, swollen and engorged with blood from internal bleeding into the penis) It’s not a great sight at all. So please, dear entanglement crew, Let’s be careful.

Controversial marriage Counselor George Lutterodt is here again and this time he has spoken about rape victims.

He indicated that every rape victim enjoys the act when it gets to some point.

During a discussion on Adom TV, Counselor George Lutterodt repulsively described how women enjoy being raped.

He said the moment it enters and the place begins to get wet she feels small pains which makes the enjoyment develop. This was strongly disagreed by pundits on the show, as they stated his claims is not true.

He explained that despite raping is not a good thing, the moment a victim is not willing to do it she starts to enjoy it after the incident beginning.

Counselor Lutterodt is not new to making controversial statements, he once stated that Jesus smiles anytime his name is mentioned during sex.

While speaking from his base in the United States, the counselor made mention that Jesus rather smiles whenever he hears his name been mentioned when people are enjoying themselves in sex.

According to him, Kumchacha – who had said it’s a sin for people having sex to scream the name Jesus and would eventually take the person – knows nothing about the topic that was why he passed such a statement when asked to share his view on the topic.

Musician Joshua Vincent has reacted to Seyitan accusing D’banj of rape, sharing his encounter with both of them in 2018.

According to Joshua Vincent, in 2018 when D’banj and the band went for a show in Cotonou, Seyitan who accused him of rape was the one that cooked for the group before retiring with the singer.

He tweeted;

This is wickedness. I remember in September 2018 when @iamdbanj
and the band went for a show in Cutonou . It was this same @Seyitann
that cooked for us before the show and ended in Dbanjs Suite with other Groupies or should I say Kokolet’s. God help us now Na N1.5B you go pay Money bag

Seyitan had accused D’banj of raping her on the 30th of December 2018 at Glee Hotel which the artiste has debunked.

The Kokomaster has sued her for N1.5 billion although he had earlier demanded N100 million Naira from Seyitan Babatayo, due to the recent turn of events, Dbanj, through his lawyer, Mike Ozekhome Chambers, has asked for more.

N1 billion was demanded in damages “over the untold embarrassment, derision, public ridicule, odium, obloquy, marital disharmony, mental agony and psychological trauma which the Defendants’ tweets and publication have caused the claimant.”

N500 million was demanded as “aggravated, punitive, and exemplary damages.”

The two officials of the United Nations mission in Israel who were seen in a viral video having s3x in an official vehicle have been suspended without pay.

After the s3x video went viral, the United Nations officials who were featured carrying out the acts in their official vehicle while driving down a major street in Tel Aviv have been suspended without pay.

In a statement released on Thursday, July 2, the UN said the men in the video have been identified as staff members of the United Nations Truce Supervision Organization (UNTSO), UN military observers based in Israel.

The spokesman for the UN’s secretary-general, Stéphane Dujarric, told BBC;

“Their suspension was appropriate given the seriousness of the allegations of failing to observe the standards of conduct expected of international civil servants.

“UNTSO has re-engaged in a robust awareness-raising campaign to remind its personnel of their obligations to the UN Code of Conduct.”

The UN maintains strict regulations barring sexual misconduct by staffers and has come under fire for violations in recent years. A report by the UN confirmed 175 allegations of sexual exploitation and abuse by staffers in 2019. Sixteen claims were substantiated, fifteen were found to be unsubstantiated, and the rest are still investigated.

Human Rights Activist, Segun Awosanya aka SegaLink, has given details on the alleged arrest of Dbanj rape accuser, Miss Seyitan.

Seyitan Babatayo, recently recounted her ordeal while in police custody for two days almost two weeks after going public with her story.

This information was contained in a statement issued by Stand To End Rape (STER) Initiative and signed by her.

Taking to Twitter moments back, Segalink gave his own part of the whole story, as he cleared some air on the whole situation.

See what he wrote below;

I will speak to what actually transpired in this regard for the sake of the public in a few minutes. This is why we need to be circumspect and careful about what we believe online without checking the veracity.

Equity is equality. Our organization sees only humanity and cares less about treating anyone specially because of their status, gender, creed, clan, class or craze. This is our safe space policy which is no respecter of any agenda be it state (Public) or organization sponsored.

Our work speaks only to the truth materializing. When a police officer in the bid to apprehend an alleged thief use unnecessary aggression thereby violating such individual’s rights, he may los his/her authority & have to deal with the infringement. We all have rights.

For those expecting this to be a victimization thread, you can stop reading right here to avoid being grossly disappointed. I speak only to the gray areas and not judging any matter. I felt the need to do this because of the unconscionable actions of a few toxic elements.

I touched on this mildly when the coven of prejudiced primitives started their rumors but I believe the linguistic territory might have been an issue standing against the digestion of what was subtly said. 👉🏽

Seyitan came to us first when this broke out. Her first complaint was about the DPO of the Bar Beach Police station who she said treated her unfairly and she was comforted and asked by me to relax that her complaint will be taken up. I had my reasons.

I told her to go home with her friend that I was going to report the officer and also engage her with one of our Organization’s legal team lead. We had a conference call that evening & we took notes repeating the same advisory. Go home and relax.

The next call that came a day later was to notify me of the response of Dbanj’s team to her concerns online and also the criminal defamation letter, which I believe was unfair and responded publicly to. Still I asked that she takes her time and relax till she is able to document.

For those who don’t understand the rules of engagement, there is nothing actionable that you can obtain from someone whose emotional state is unstable. The stories will be shifty & inconsistent as the sequence of events will not make sense. Thus the need for her to be ready.

But beyond the preparation for cases based on an allegation that is still fuzzy, it was important to know what her prayers were. What gives her closure and what does she see as Justice. I felt if the findings about her connection with the team was anything to go by, they’ll call.

If you are a good scientist, you don’t go into an experiment with a desired outcome in mind. It will be prejudiced and you will learn nothing. So in every case I divorce my interest and focus more on Justice as defined by the vulnerable involved and this begins with the truth.

While we were navigating the action plan on this, I was informed by Seyitan that a friend of hers got her a Lawyer. As puzzled as I was, I said there is no problem if you are happy having another representation. They she added that they made her sign a retainer and I got pissed.

Having realized how disturbed you are emotionally, we never obligated you yet someone got to make you sign a binding document before representation? Anyways, I said let’s see the angle of the lawyer and let’s know how we can help. At this point a criminal defamation…

…letter has been published by Dbanj’s team and a response was necessary since they didn’t give her the courtesy of an audience given their acquaintance. I never knew the Lawyer also noticed her emotional state and knew she could change her mind thus the need to obligate her.

When she spoke about how the lawyer acted, which I knew was for her good later, I wasn’t pleased and I made her know that it wad unprofessional but this can be worked out still. She told me her lawyer wants her to settle and I got pissed again. Asking her for her own prayers.

We had a conference call with the lawyer and that call was the most annoying this year. So I told her to do as her lawyer says if this is what she wants and only call when she is in need of help. Promising her of my support regardless of what she decides to do. It’s her call.

The next thing I saw were calls and texts about her being arrested and detained. I was told she couldn’t call because her phone was taken from her. I asked the person to send me the location so I can call since it was Lagos and we finally got to know it was IRT.

I called the contacts there but they were out of station yet they got the people on duty to respond. They said they were acting on instruction to intervene on a matter and will revert. I still couldn’t reach Seyitan but kept trying & asking where the Lawyer was.

I even tweeted about the info on her alleged arrest and detention stating that the officers will be brought to book and that this will worsen the case…until I got to know what actually happened. The lawyer was carried along & there was even a resolution at that meeting.

My fears were confirmed and the inconsistencies prove that she is not under any condition to be stressed so when they called again, I only said, please rest and call me when you are fine. I never knew there was an amicable settlement with contribution by the mum who wants peace.

She later told me she was located by members of STER and that she will be staying with her for a bit after leaving the hotel they got her to rest in by Dbanj’s team as approved by her mum and lawyer. I recall stating that she was in good hands at STER and nothing else.

I have always recommended SARCs for anyone dealing with trauma relating to sexual assault whether imagined or real. Psychosocial support is essential to get the individual ready to walk through whatever she can remember objectively before any further advisory.

The receipts on the incident at IRT are also available from the invitation/arrest to resolution and agreement with the consent of the lawyer and parent. What was consistent as mentioned was the police telling her they will detain her. The sequence of this is however unverifiable.

I say this with all consideration and care. Even the few discussions I had with Seyitan based on her concerns were misinterpreted deliberately and weaponized as me preventing Seyitan from listening to the Feminist Coven’s instructions or advisory. The discussion wasn’t new…

…I was simply reaffirming what I told her when she first came. I simply asked what her prayers were. When the time is right you will hear from credible parties on our role how transparent it was even to the point of featuring her in a documentary but she wasn’t there yet.

When these people told me via different sources what they heard, as credited to me, claiming they were quoting Seyitan’s words, I was disappointed as this corroborated other patterns of inconsistencies. When I asked Seyitan she said it was all a misunderstanding.

I have no grouse with Seyitan and I will always support her regardless but I believe she is under undue influence on this matter with elements that wants to use her for their own agenda. There is no malice in making a case but this I maintain must be the will of the individual.

So pardon me if I don’t align with the forces beating the drums of war on this matter. There are complications that need to concern each and everyone with Seyitan’s interest at heart. Allow her to rest and see mountains as mountains and rivers as rivers. Stop the push & shove.

Allow those assisting her to do their best and let her be free to make her own decision. Go out there and let something happen to you too, then bring your personal case out here to wash publicly. This lady has been through a lot emotionally.

She is most likely afraid to admit many things to those who might have committed their efforts on this matter and desires certain outcomes, this her need to say things a certain way to avoid a backlash. I won’t begrudge her. Not in her condition. But please let her be.

My advice to the @iamdbanj’s team is simple. Stop reacting. Be humane and be matured. Whatever that is hidden will forever come to light. No one out here can judge any man or woman but let’s be fair and avoid undue harrassment and insensitive posts.

If you folks decide to go to court, we will all be praying for you and if you decide you resolve this within yourselves based on your acquaintance, we really don’t need to know. Right now I personally don’t know who the vulnerable is if not both of you!

The police maintained they simply acted as an arbiter and the documents generated in that regard with the consent of the lawyer and parent proves this. But I still can’t place the detention and the words spoken to her which I believe is unfortunate and unconscionable…if true.

There is a lot in discovery and there is so much unsaid. I will humbly advise the warring party to consider Seyitan’s interest more than the wishes of their Ego and agenda. Her interest is paramount in this and it is not your name being dragged in the mud. #Empathy

Frank’s role is another thread entirely, which I will visit at a later time with full receipts. All we need to know is that this world is wicked and we are all vulnerable.

End…….for the now.

I will speak to what actually transpired in this regard for the sake of the public in a few minutes. This is why we need to be circumspect and careful about what we believe online without checking the veracity. #CheckTheVeracity #EndImpunity https://t.co/F47mow0fyp

The Nigerian police have denied detaining Seyitan Babatayo, the lady who accused singer, D’banj, of rape.

Vanguard reported that a Police source said D’banj reported on three separate occasions at FCID for interrogation and statement, while Seyitan repeatedly refused to show up. Claims that her non-appearance led to the prompt dispatch of officers by the Force CID to Lagos, to invite her for written statement and interrogation on the alleged rape incident.

According to the police source, there might be a mix up by the legal representative of Seyitan over claims of being arrested and detained by Police operatives at Ikeja in Lagos for 24 hours. Insists that Seyitan was only invited to give her written statement and also to be interrogated as it was necessary for her to come forward to give a statement to back up her accusation.

The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has ordered the probe of the policemen who allegedly arrested D'banj's rape accuser, Seyitan Babatayo.

The IGP gave the order in a letter signed on his behalf by his Principal Staff Officer, DCP Idowu Owohunwa, and addressed to the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Force Criminal Investigation Department, Garki.

The IGP's letter was the sequel to a petition written by Seyitan’s lawyer, Ojoge, Omileye, and Partners.

In the IGP's letter titled  "Re: Petition Against Inspector Abraham, Supol Ugowe and the Entire Police Officers Team at Ikeja, Lagos Division of the Inspector General of Police", the IGP asked that the petition from Seyitan Babatayo's lawyer be addressed.

The petition from Babatayo's legal representative - Ojoge, Omileye, and Partners -  allege that policemen attached to the Intelligence Response Team arrested Seyitan on the directive of D’Banj and detained her for over 24 hours.

It was also alleged that they denied her access to her phone and her lawyers and she was subjected to intimidation and psychological torture by the policemen.

The petition read in part;

“On Tuesday, June 16, 2020, our client was picked up alongside a friend, Favour, at her residence in Lagos by the officers of the Ikeja IGP IRT. The arrest was without any warrant and neither our client nor her friend, Favour, was informed of the reasons for their arrest.

“According to our client, she was told to write a statement denying ever meeting with Mr. Oyebanjo (D’Banj) and to also state that she lied against the person of Mr. Oyebanjo. In actual fact, our client was about to write the statement which she believed would be a basis for her release when the counsel came in and stopped her from writing such a statement.
"The counsel further informed the policemen that all actions to the alleged rape of our client in December 2018 by Mr. Oyebanjo have been transferred to the DIG FCID for a thorough investigation and that they need to stay the action.”

The petition adds that the counsel told the policemen to release his client and he would bring her back to the station when she's needed but the policemen said Seyitan had not yet spent 24 hours in custody.

The counsel returned the following day and alleged that D’Banj’s Manager, Damien Okoroafor, was present at the police officer.

He said that the process of bailing Seyitan had started before D'banj's manager, Okoroafor’s began ordering officers around. Because of this, the officers refused to release Seyitan and threatened to approach a magistrate court to obtain a remand order to detain Seyitan for two weeks.

He said Seyitan was forced to delete all social media posts she had made about D’Banj and was also forced to make a public statement absolving D’Banj of rape which she did to gain her freedom.

After adamantly denying sexual assault allegations levied against him, Justin Bieber has gone on to slam both accusers with a $20 million defamation lawsuit.

According to TMZ, the singer is taking massive legal action after two social media users accused him of sexual assault in 2014 and 2015.

The outlet obtained docs outlining the suit, which states that the singer has “indisputable documentary evidence” that proves the accusations to be “outrageous, fabricated lies.”

One of the accusers identified as Danielle tweeted that the incident occurred at an Austin, Texas, hotel on March 9, 2014. The woman, who was 21 at the time, claimed Bieber sexually assaulted her after they consensually made out, even though she objected to “going too far” with him. “My body felt unconscious,” she said. “I don’t want to go into detail about what happened next.”

Court docs have now stated that Bieber never had a room at the hotel but was instead staying at a nearby rental property with then-girlfriend Selena Gomez.

The suit alleges that reports of Bieber eating at the hotel the day after the assault was said to have taken place are the basis of the fabrications.

The second accuser claims Bieber assaulted her in New York City in 2015 when the singer was in town for the Met Gala.

RMZ further reported that the suit states that the accuser is a superfan who often waits outside of Bieber’s hotels and the like, often seeking attention from him. The docs also claim that she admitted on Twitter to never having met Bieber after the date of the alleged assault.

Bieber attended the Met Gala and went to a private afterparty, which the docs claim can be proved by photo evidence.

Justin Bieber said he believes the two accusers are working together to damage his reputation, or may even be the same person operating multiple Twitter accounts.

Nigerian singer, Dapo Oyebanjo also known as Dbanj has been interrogated by the Nigeria Police Force over the rape allegation leveled against him.

According to a report by PUNCH, D’Banj was grilled by an Assistant Commissioner of Police, Adaku Anya, at the Force Criminal Investigation Department, Garki, Abuja.

A statement was also taken from the musician, who insisted that he never raped his accuser.

A top police source said,

“D’Banj has been questioned twice at the FCID, Abuja. He was questioned last week and also this week. We will leave no stone unturned as we investigate the matter.”

The report also says Babatayo was invited to write a statement but couldn’t make it because she had no means of traveling to Abuja and opted to visit a police unit in Lagos.

“Seyitan appealed with us that she had no means of travelling down to Abuja. So, she has been given the option of reporting at the FCID Annex, Alagbon, Ikoyi,” the officer added.

It would be recalled that Miss Seyitan had come out to accuse the singer of raping her in 2018.

Dbanj would go on to deny the allegation, though the matter would take another twist when Miss Seyitan was reportedly arrested by policemen from Sodipo Command, Ikeja.

She released a press statement on Wednesday, June 24, 2020, where she narrated all that transpired during her arrest.

In the statement, she revealed that she has officially filed a criminal complaint against the music star.

The man who allegedly raped a 3-month-old baby in Adogi Village in Nasarawa state, has finnaly been arrested by officers of The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC in the state.

The NSCDC announced the arrest on its social media page, and stated that the man was arrested after thorough investigations by its personnel.

“After a thorough intelligence gathering and investigation, the Nasarawa State Command of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps arrested a man Tuesday accused of raping a three-month-old baby in Adogi Village of Nasarawa State” the security outfit tweeted

The news on the rape incident made the rounds a week ago, and it was reported that the culprit was on the run.

According to the mother of the victim, Maimuna Adam, she slept with her windows open to allow fresh air into her apartment. Later in the night, she woke up and found out that her baby who was supposed to be sleeping by her side, was missing.

She raised alarm and her neighbors went in search of her baby. They later found her baby inside an uncompleted building, with her pants ripped from her body and bloodstains around her vagina.

The victim was taken to the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) where she received surgical treatment.

The Nigerian lady, Seyitan who accused Dbanj of rape has finally released a public statement through her lawyers, where she revealed that the singer’s team asked her to tell the world it was all a publicity stunt.

In the statement, Seyitan revealed that she was indeed arrested by the Police and detained for 48 hours without getting access to her lawyers and family.

She stated that she was indeed raped by the singer and she had to come out open when she couldn’t bear the trauma and pain the assault has caused since it happened in 2018.

If you recall few days back, Seyitan was reported to have been arrested by the Police and made to sign an undertaken not to speak out over the issue any longer.

“I was released from custody after being made to sign a gag order by the Police and Dbanj team, and could only post on social media what has been approved by Dbanj’s team. I spent the night in a location of Dbanj’s team choosing, which was not made known to the public” the statement partly reads.

She further disclosed that the Lagos State Attorney-General has instructed the Commissioner of Police in Lagos to investigate the case.

See full statement below:

As the rape allegation against Nigerian singer Dbanj continues to gain more attention since the intervention of the Police, new reports have emerged on why the singer was accused of the alleged rape.

According to Investigative journalist, Kemi Olunloyo, Dbanj’s former manager, Frank Amudo allegedly set the girl up with the singer, with the alleged plan to extort him over his new endorsement deal with Heritage Bank.

It was also reported that Frank was a known pimp for celebrities during major concerts and he was behind the accuser, Seyitan’s Twitter handle and made it appear as if Dbanj and his team hijacked the handle.

Read full reports below:

@seyitannn_ you are a LIAR young lady! I don’t represent @iamdbanj nor take sides. I defend media freedom and in my opinion you should confess because you have DEFAMED the musician and his family. I will now expose the facts on #Kemitalksrape YOU make it hard for victims.

@seyitannn_you did NOT tweet these allegations. Your friend who tweeted them for you on instructions of Frank Amudo, DBanj’s FIRED mgr. She contacted me. This is extremely fraudulent as you presented yourself as a RAPE VICTIM. @PoliceNGtake note. Those tweets now deleted!

@seyitannn_Just like @timidakoloyou used useless INUENDOS to get attention of an alleged rapist. Your tweet handler now ex pal turned the handle into a charade. You gave sympathizers the impression that DBanj’s team “hijacked” your handle. No evidence from @TwitterSupport
@seyitannn_attended the police invitation last week on allegations of being raped and Frank Amudo’s lawyer reportedly present with her. However Frank was not present and is reportedly in hiding as the plan has collapsed. He is a close associate of DBanj and former manager.
Conclusions: The issue of rape of @seyitannn_came up because Frank Amudo wanted to seize the opportunity to extort money from @iamdbanjahead of his @heritagebankplcdeal and 40th birthday which is straight up wicked! DBanj contributed so much to his life as his Mgr

Conclusion: @iamdbanj was very kind and loyal to his former manager and even paid millions of naira for Frank Amudo’s wife’s fertility treatment when she was trying to have a child. It shocked Oyebanjo to find out why Frank wanted to use the issue of rape to DESTROY HIM

Conclusion: Many top music artists and an Abuja CEO that I interviewed said the Culture of hooking up groupies before and after concerts was Frank Amudo’s job and he always “organized girls” for DBanj and “did it well” One artist said Frank was literally “A pimp”

A popular human rights Activist who I personally know and spoke to AND WILL NOT MENTION the name who @seyitannn_said will “package” her story and fight for her backed out of her case DENYING such promise. The Activist reportedly noticed holes in her story and claim @PoliceNG

Finally @PoliceNG should invite Frank Amudo, DBanj’s former manager to come and tell his side of the story as it pertains to this alleged rape. He is said to be in HIDING. @seyitannn_’s mum attempted to reach out to DBanj to APOLOGISE but she was DENIED ACCESS! Family not happy

I’m done with the SECOND part of my Investigation for now. @iamdbanjsuspended from his @heritagebankplcC.R.E.A.M platform deal and also facing removal as a United Nations Youth ambassador. Up to 25,000 people have signed a “false” accusations petition. More soon.#kemiolunloyo

Rape allegation: "Stop social media trial" Dbanj tells critics

A post shared by Lindaikejiblog (@lindaikejiblogofficial) on

Governor Emmanuel Udom has signed the Violence Against Persons Prohibition Law , VAPPL, 2020, which empowers judges to hand down life imprisonment to anyone convicted of rape in Akwa Ibom state.

The state's commissioner for agriculture and women affairs, Glory Edet who spoke after the Governor assented the bill, said it is aimed at discouraging the spate of violence in the society.

Edet said;

“I think this is one of the best things that has happened to protect the female gender and as the commissioner overseeing women matters , I believe the women of Akwa Ibom, the children and even our men are happy because this law will really teach defaulters a lesson.

“This law allows for the implementation of a lot of things we were praying for and prescribes stiffer punishment for violators of the Child’s Right Act , perpetrators of violence against citizens of both gender. Before now violators of the female gender had some years to spend in prison but VAPPL recommends life imprisonment to really deal with the offenders and discourage the spate of violence in our society.”

The commissioner also disclosed that sensitisation and awareness campaign on the new law will soon be initiated.

Uwemedimo Nwoko, the state attorney-general and commissioner for justice further revealed that the law also provides 14 years imprisonment for perpetrators of gender-based violence and any kind of sexual offence other than rape.

The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu has ordered a probe into the rape allegation against superstar singer, Oladapo Oyebanjo aka D’banj.

The order was given by the IGP in response to a petition Mr. Tommy Ojoge-Daniel, a lawyer to Miss Seyitan Babatayo who accused D’Banj of raping her in 2018 wrote.

The letter with reference number CB.7000/IGP.SEC/ABJ/VOl.484/801 which was written by the Principal Staff Officer to the IG, DCP Idowu Owohunwa and addressed to the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Force Criminal Investigation Department, Area 10, Garki, Abuja, came after the singer was accused of intimidating the alleged rape victim by getting her arrested.

It read in part;

‘Re: Petition Against (1) Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo (Aka D’Banj) for Rape Indecent Sexual Assault, Attempted Assault on Miss Seyitan Temidayo

“I forward herewith copy of letter dated June 5, 2020 received from Ojoge, Omileye and Partners on the above underlined subject. I am to respectfully convey the directive of the Inspector-General of Police that you treat.

“Accept the assurances of my esteemed regards please.”

Seyitan’s friend, Benjamin Ese, in a Twitter thread in early June, had told the story of how D’Banj allegedly raped Seyitan at a hotel two years ago – in December 2018.

She said it happened at an all-white party where D’Banj allegedly offered Seyitan some money to spend the night which she rejected until he surprisingly showed up in Seyitan’s hotel room around 2 in the midnight.

“D’Banj drove all the way from Eko hotel where he was lodged and came down to glee hotel in Victoria Island at midnight 2.40 am and collected the spare key from the receptionist,” Ese said in the thread which has since sparked an outrage.

She said D’Banj allegedly “got into my friend’s room and forcefully threatened he would walk her out of the room naked, kept his fingers in her vagina, and repeatedly raped her.

The rape experience, Ese said had caused Seyitan some trauma since the incident happened.

One month after Ese’s tweets, Seyitan came out publicly to present herself as the lady who was allegedly raped by D’Banj in December 2018.

Dbanj however, denied the allegations leveled against him and asked Seyitan to make a public apology and also pay him the sum of N100m in damages.

On Tuesday it was claimed that Seyitan was arrested by the police and detained for over 24 hours on the order of Dbanj. Her friends claim the officers made her delete all chats, social media posts and other vital information from her phone.

The move was widely criticized by social media users and a few celebrities who accused Dbanj of intimidation.

Popular and respected Nigerian producer, Don Jazzy has reacted to the rape and sexual allegation levied against Dbanj.

It can be recalled that after Miss Seyitan Eunice Babatayo accused Dbanj of rape, the singer would go on to file a N100 million lawsuit against her.

Yesterday, news began to to filter yesterday that Miss Seyitan Eunice Babatayo has been detained and is being held by the police.

Surprisingly she would go on to make post on her social media, promoting his songs.

Many Nigerians have since reacted to the turn of events, with some calling for him to be canceled.

Some also called on Don Jazzy to air his view on the turn of events and not sit on the fence.

Reacting moments back, Don Jazzy stated that he is sure the truth would always prevail, as he added that the law would always protect the victim.

He also pointed out that he is not an investigator and neither is he a judge, but urged the police to carry out thorough investigation and allow the court to do justice.

“No matter how long a lie lasts, the truth will always prevail. The fact is that one of them is a victim and the law will protect that person. I stand firmly against rape and all injustices against women, children and everyone including oppression. I urge all victims to speak out and report to the appropriate quarters.

It is also important that every accused person is given an opportunity to set the facts straight. For most of us, all we have is the good name our parents have given us and we must protect and bequeath to our own successors.

This particular case saddens my soul but I am not competent to investigate or judge this matter. I implore the police to thoroughly investigate and courts to do justice.”

Miss Seyitan Eunice Babatayo who publicly accused popular musician, D’banj of raping her is “no where to be found”.

According to Chioma Agwuegbo, Seyitan Eunice Babatayo who is supposed to meet with the Police PPRO this morning over the alleged rape by D’banj, is nowhere to be found, unreachable by friends and family and probably didn’t get home last night.

Agwuegbo took to her social media page to raise awareness about this new development, telling the Nigerian police that they would be held responsible if anything happens to her.

She wrote;

So Miss Seyitan Eunice Babatayo who was supposed to meet with @PoliceNG
PPRO this morning is nowhere to be found. She’s not answering calls or in contact with her lawyer or family. There is strong reason to believe she didn’t get home last night.

It is unconscionable that women in Nigeria cannot speak up about sexual violence done to them without fear of more violence.

What is this pressure on Seyitan to recant if Dbanj is not guilty? Didn’t they already ask for 100m in damages? Why not allow the law take its course?

We have it on good authority that she is being pressured and induced to recant her testimony.

Dear @PoliceNG, you’re already culpable for being a willing tool to harass and intimidate a citizen who accused Dbanj of rape. We will hold you accountable if anything happens to her.
