63-year-old Senator Mustapha Bukar, who died after a brief illness has some vital details you probably don't know about.

Business Insider Sub Sahara Africa will share the vital details of the one time Nigerian Senator, who was born in Daura on December 31, 1954.

Aside being a member of the same community that produced the President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, Bukar's generosity in the Senate has seen some civil servants in Kogi benefiting from his largesse.

In October 2017, Bukar joined 39 other Senators to donate a  total of 1,260 bags of rice to the civil servants in Kogi state.

Bukar actually donated 20 bags of rice.

Education
Late Senator Bukar attended the prestigious  Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria from 1974 to 1978  where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.

Unknown to many, Bukar underwent the compulsory one year National Youth Service (NYSC) in Imo State.

Engineering Career
The former representative of the Katsina North Senatorial district was a member of the Institute of Civil Engineers, Council of Registered Engineers of Nigeria, Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) American Water Work Association.

With the creation of Katsina State in 1987, Engineer Bukar was deployed to help set up the project department of the new state water board as Chief Engineer, projects.

All he did for provision of water across Africa
Bukar was also the President, Nigerian Water Supply Association, Chairman African Water resources and Member Nigeria Institute of Management.

He was appointed General Manager/Chief Executive of the Katsina State Water Board in 1989 and was made the commissioner of Agriculture, Water Resources after the rationalization of ministries.

He was  also at one time a Director of Special Duties on Agriculture, Water Resources and Rural Development in the Ministry of Agriculture.

How he gave back to the youths after securing a seat at the Nigerian Senate
A first time Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bukar sponsored the training of 400 unemployed youths in his Senatorial District on yogurt making and poultry production for self-reliance and economic sustainability.
