2Baba newly appointed UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador

We’re delighted to announce that Afropop music legend @official2baba is our newest Goodwill Ambassador.

For the past three years, @official2baba has been a committed High-Level Supporter of UNHCR’s LuQuLuQu campaign – a pan-African movement of people from all walks of life investing in a better future for forcibly displaced people across the continent.

As an Afropop music legend, 2Baba has given his voice to refugee and IDP causes. In 2017 he wrote and recorded the song, Hold My Hand, a dedication to internally displaced persons.

The song helped raise funds for UNHCR’s humanitarian response. He has also, generously contributed his own personal funds to support refugee and IDP families in Africa, while continuing to use his celebrity status to raise awareness and support for UNHCR’s work.

2Baba is the first Nigerian to be appointed as a UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador and we commend him for being part of the movement challenging the narrative of the African refugee.

Tuface in an appreciation post shared on his social media page, wrote;

Honoured and humbled by my appointment as regional goodwill ambassador of UNHCR. Thanks for the recognition. This will no doubt deepen my commitment to supporting the effort of UNHCR personnel and volunteers who are on ground every day, working hard to provide support and hope to millions of forcefully displaced persons across the world.

Special thanks to donors and supporters of the cause. Blessings one and all.
