The main reason why Ramon Abbas also known as Hushpuppi, was denied bail has been finally disclosed by a United States Court sitting in Illinois, Chicago.
Hushpuppi bail application did not pass in spite of his lawyer, Gal Pissetzky insisting that his job as an Instagram celebrity paid for the $10,000 monthly rent on his luxury Dubai flat.
Gal Pissetzky, his lawyer sent an application for bail and initially made a request that he is given an ankle monitor while he resides with the uncle of a woman he has a baby with, but US prosecutors opposed the bail application.
The court in Chicago has disclosed the reason it denied Hushpuppi bail and the chance to remain with his girlfriend’s Uncle pending the conclusion of his trial.
The court based in Illinois claimed that Hushpuppi presents a risk of non-appearance, based on recommendations of the Pretrial services which provides the court quality information about defendants.
Furthermore, the Premium Times reported that other factors which denied him bail was that he is subject to lengthy period of incarceration supposing he was convicted, lacks significant family or other ties outside the United States, lacks significant community or family ties to the district, lacks legal status in the country and will be subjected to removal or deportation for serving any period of incarceration.
In addition, it stated that Hushpuppi who has a link with various foreign countries has more than enough assets to fund flight anywhere in the world.
The statement partly read;
“Abbas reportedly rents an apartment in Dubai for $10.000 a month and drives a Bentley. He is alleged to have committed financial crimes that netted tens of millions of dollars or more.“For these reasons and those stated on the record, Mr Abbas shall be removed to the charging district in the custody of the US Marshal.”
