On August 16, 2020, Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) reported 298 new cases of coronavirus. From what we gathered on their twitter handle, Plateau State reported the highest number cases with 108, while Kaduna and Lagos reported 49 and 47 positive cases respectively.
Ogun State which is among the highest number of cases in the country had a total number of 18 new cases, while Osun and the capital city, Abuja had 17 and 15 new cases respectively.
Other states with new positive cases include;
Ondo – 14, Edo – 8, Oyo – 6, Akwa Ibom – 4, Cross River – 4, Borno – 3, Ekiti – 2. Three states came out with 1 new case. precisely, Rivers, Kano, and Bauchi.
Currently, Nigeria has recorded a total number of 49,068, while the fatality rate is a total number of 975. The number of people to have recovered from the virus has risen to a total number of 36, 497.
