The Federal Government as at last week stated that students in existing classes were to resume on August 4th for preparations for the West African Examination (WAEC). But Government of Ogun State has made it compulsory for boarding students to go for COVID19 test which will cost 25,000 naira for each test.

Parents, on the other hand, did not like the statement coming from the Government and therefore, protested to show their frustration.

Although students in public schools will pay nothing for their test, students who attend private schools will have to pay 25,000 naira to know their fate.

According to some parents who expressed their feelings to PREMIUM TIMES;

“How many parents can afford to pay N25, 000 in Ogun where there is acute poverty?” a parent whose child attends Redeemers’ High school in Mowe asked. “The ministers of health and education should better think of another means to rake in money from people,”
